Biodiversity in Manigod

Presentation

With its forests, alpine pastures, wetlands, cliffs, and high-altitude areas, Manigod is home to exceptional biodiversity.

The area is home to numerous animal and plant species emblematic of the Alps. These include the black grouse, the scarce large blue butterfly, the chamois, and the round-leaved sundew—a carnivorous plant found in certain peat bogs.
The Beauregard Plateau, a designated Natura 2000 site, is one of the municipality's most remarkable natural areas.

Let’s preserve our natural environments

To protect this natural wealth:
  • stay on marked trails;
  • do not pick wild plants;
  • respect the tranquility of the wildlife;
  • take your trash with you;
  • opt for low-impact modes of transport whenever possible.
Every action helps ensure the long-term preservation of the ecosystems that make Manigod so special.

At the Manigod Tourist Office, we care deeply about our environment and strive to raise awareness among young people.
Every summer, we offer nature-focused workshops; accompanied by a guide, children explore the local wildlife—looking for animals and tracking signs—as well as the flora, all while learning to respect and coexist with nature.
You can also join our "Aventure Nature" (Nature Adventure) event, held in late July, featuring three days of adventure and exploration.
