In the Aravis mountains of Haute-Savoie, markets play an important role in the life of village resorts.


Every day of the week has its own market! With their lively entertainment, local produce and colorful stalls, young and old alike enjoy strolling through the local markets and coming away with some great products!

Manigod Market

The Manigod market takes place every Tuesday in July and August, from 8 am to 1 pm.
​Experience a moment of tradition in Manigod!
Around 9 a.m., come and watch bread being baked in the village oven, located below the town hall. Jean, a former baker, will share his know-how with you and explain all the stages of bread making, from heating the oven to baking.
A great opportunity to discover a living heritage… and leave with a delicious hot bread for only €2.50.

In addition to the market, the Tourist Office offers a number of guided tours:

Organ tours: on Tuesdays 7, 14, 21 and 28 July, and 4, 11 and 18 August.
Village tours: on Tuesdays 21 July and 11 August.
Chapel walks: on Wednesday 15 July, as well as on Tuesdays 28 July and 18 August.

Thônes Market

Every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., discover local producers: fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and charcuterie from the valley... A colorful stroll through the lively streets of the town!

La Clusaz Market

All year round, every Monday morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., meet the merchants and artisans on the Place de l'Église in La Clusaz. Local products are on sale: Reblochon cheese, Savoie cured ham, Aravis liqueur, specialty breads, and more. Le Grand-Bornand Market

A meeting place for vacationers and locals, year-round, on Wednesday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the summer. Note that a market is held in Le Chinaillon every Sunday morning. More information here

Saint-Jean de Sixt Market

It takes place in July and August only, on Sunday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Sources du Lac Market

A regular food and clothing market with seasonal flowers and garden plants takes place every Wednesday morning in Faverges-Seythenex from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A farmers' market takes place every Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. under the covered market in Faverges-Seythenex as well. In July and August, local artisans exhibit their works at the market. A beautiful local market to discover!
And during the summer season, from June to early September, a food and clothing market takes place on Rue Macherine in Doussard every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Annecy Market

In Annecy, the old town hosts a market on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Producers set up their stalls under the arcades of Rue Sainte Claire. A typical market in the small cobbled streets of the old town, you'll find all the region's products and specialties. On Fridays and Sundays, textiles and manufactured goods complete the market. On Saturday mornings, the market is located on Boulevard Taine from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., with many local producers and products ranging from food and textiles to household goods.

- The Descent from the Alps
​Every year, the streets of Annecy come alive on the second Saturday of October with the Descent from the Alps, which marks the end of the summer pastures. Herds fill the streets, folk groups parade, artisans showcase their work, old crafts are revived, and of course, the region's producers are on hand to introduce you to all the traditional Savoyard specialties. An authentic and convivial experience!
- The Saint Andrew's Fair Every first Tuesday in December for over five centuries, the traditional Saint Andrew's Fair takes over the streets of Annecy. Nearly 1,100 vendors along 5.5 km of stalls attract tens of thousands of visitors. In the Middle Ages, mountain producers and inhabitants came to sell and buy food and utensils to get through the winter.
- The Christmas Market and Village des Alpes From late November to early January, the Village des Alpes takes place in the heart of Annecy in front of the Courier shopping center. Experience the atmosphere of a small Savoyard village with its many chalets serving regional specialties in an authentic and friendly atmosphere. An ice rink, entertainment, and themed evenings with bands and DJs bring tourists and locals together for much-loved festive moments. Meanwhile, Old Annecy's streets are filled with numerous small chalets welcoming local and national artisans who will show you their creations. Enjoy the magic of the illuminations by strolling through the town's typical streets and doing your Christmas shopping.
