The Wines

Haute-Savoie is not a department with endless vineyards. However, a few winegrowers perpetuate the Haute-Savoie wine tradition!
We have two regional appellations: the appellation vin de Savoie (declined in Ayze, Crépy, Marignan, Ripaille, Marin), and the appellation Roussette de Savoie (in Frangy).
In Manigod, you can find a wide variety of wines for sale in restaurants, farms and in the village in the Saveurs et Terroirs shop for example.
Here is an exhaustive list of some of the wines to try when you visit Manigod:

  • Mondeuse (red grape variety): this rustic and mountainous grape variety is typically Savoyard. It is a vigorous grape variety, generally pruned short, which buds and flowers rather late.
  • Apremont is a dry white wine from Savoie. It is the best known Savoyard wine.
  • Roussette de Savoie is a dry white wine from Savoie, full-bodied, with honey and almond aromas, and a light yellow colour.
  • Abymes is a dry white wine from the Savoie vineyards protected by an AOC in France and an AOP at European level.

Charcuterie

Savoy's varied charcuterie is known and renowned in France. Here is an overview of our main regional specialities:

  • The Diot de Savoie. These are pork sausages cooked with white wine and onions. To be eaten cold or hot, in a salad, with potatoes or crozets. In short, everyone can eat it as they wish!
  • Other products can also be found in the Savoyard charcuterie, such as dry Savoy ham, dry sausage, Beaufort sausage or coppa.

Rich in know-how, the Savoyard producers strive to continue to offer quality products, made in a responsible manner.
