Presentation
The Manigod Tourist Office invites you to discover the organ of its Saint-Pierre Church!
Exceptional to the eye, the Manigod organ is equally exceptional to the ear.
Its strong personality and secret sonorities are unrivalled in the region. A number of concerts will be held in the church this summer featuring our magnificent organ, accompanied by other instruments:
23 July: Organ and vocal concert
by Marc and Agnès Pinardel
Ever since childhood, Marc Pinardel has been passionate about keyboards and improvisation. He began accompanying his first church services on his own at the age of 10.
After studying the organ with Arsène Muzerelle in Reims and Louis Thiry in Rouen, and completing a bachelor’s degree in Musicology, Marc embarked on a career as a musician, teacher and composer. He held the post of organist at the Grandes Orgues of Notre-Dame de Grâce in Passy (Paris) from January 2002 to September 2024.
His organ concerts – as a soloist, in a duo with his wife Agnès, and in various ensembles – have taken him to some of the finest instruments in France and Europe.
He has been improvising since childhood, in Baroque and Classical styles as well as jazz. He has given numerous improvisation concerts in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Belgium. As part of the French team (alongside Vincent Dubois and Freddy Eichelberger), he won the first Franco-Canadian improvisation competition, held as part of the ‘Toulouse les orgues’ festival in October 2006. He is regularly commissioned to provide live accompaniment on the organ or piano for numerous films and, since 2019, has been the resident organist for the largest cinema organ in France, located in the Baltard Pavilion in Nogent-sur-Marne. He has also worked as a ‘bar pianist’ at Maxim’s…
An accomplished teacher, he taught organ and improvisation at the Saint-Maurice Conservatoire (94) for 25 years, and led organ workshops at the Alès, Toulouse and Nancy sessions. From 2005 to 2024, he was responsible at the Sorbonne for the accompaniment and improvisation course for candidates sitting the agrégation in music, and led improvisation training courses aimed at conservatoire instrument teachers and professional musicians.
He has twice been a guest on Anne Montaron’s programme ‘A l’improviste’ on France Musique and appeared on the television programme ‘C’est pas sorcier’ to discuss the organ.
He has recorded two albums of improvisations on historical instruments.
Agnès Pinardel-Minier, a soprano, has been a soloist and chorister since childhood at various educational institutions (EMRPL and CNR in Angers, the Conservatoire des XIII et XXe in Paris, and the Maîtrise de Radio France), leading to concerts, recordings, masterclasses and tours in France and across Europe.
She has a versatile and wide vocal range and is flexible in her repertoire, which spans the medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th-century and contemporary periods. She is equally adaptable to various ensemble sizes: equal-voice choirs, mixed choirs, large choirs, recitals with piano, chamber music, and performances with orchestra, organ, continuo or a cappella, including: ARCAL, Chapelle Musique, Cris de Paris, Humana Vox, Mora Vocis, Prismes, the Viva Lux trio, voice and piano with Gwenaëlle Rouger, and voice and organ with her husband, Marc Pinardel.
Interdisciplinary and inquisitive, she is not only a concert singer but also a singing teacher and vocal coach (Saint-Maurice Conservatoire 94, Paris Seminary, workshops for adults and children); as a cantor for the Diocese of Paris, she performs at various services, masses and funerals (including those of celebrities such as Florence Arthaud, Bruno Cremer, Gérard Houllier, Jean Rochefort and Thierry Roland); she holds a PhD in Music and Musicology from Paris IV-Sorbonne (thesis defended in 2006 on ‘Sacred Music Today: Social Issues and Social Representations’); she holds a University Diploma (D.U.) in music therapy from the A.M.B., enabling her to apply her skills as a musician in a therapeutic context.
