The paret : Manigod’s emblematique wooden sledge

The paret is a traditional type of sledge, fun and easy to use, it was first used at the start of the 20th century by kids in the winter to get to school on snow covered roads.

But what is the Manigod Paret?
The paret is a wooden sledge, a single runner with a little plank for a seat and a handle used to steer.

These days it’s just used for pleasure, even if it’s still used in the same way.
Each week on Wednesday afternoons after the skiing day has finished, the tourist office offers learners courses on the Blanchot piste of the col de Merdassier, including the loan of 50 or so parets, for free.
